Cairokee – Freeze where you are (Ethbat Makanak)

One of the revolutionary songs that I thought of translating, the idea behind the song is simple, whenever clashes happen and protesters start backing off a lot of people would shout “Ethbat” which means “Freeze” encouraging others to stay where they are and not fear the bullets or the tear gas. It is one of some really well written songs documenting a lot of acts that may have been forgotten during the revolution that is still continuing.

Some of the incidents mentioned in the RAP part was one when an old warehouse of books got burned while people were getting killed beside the Egyptian cabinet, all the media brought attention to the books -Which neither the police nor the army interfered in putting out the fire despite of having the power to do it like how they did it before at the same exact area with helicopters- and they totally forgot about the people getting killed there, however, the same revolutionaries were the ones who helped putting out the fire and saving the old books. He also mentioned the Tahrir girl who was stripped from her clothes by the military, in the video clip Samira Ibrahim shows – who was subjected to a virginity test by the military in March 2011-

Freeze where you are .. Here is your address

Fear itself is afraid of you .. And your conscience have never betrayed you

Freeze where you are .. The sunlight is coming back

Either you die standing .. Or live bowing

Freeze where you are .. Your eyes are seeing the proof

Leave them and let .. The wall on them to lean

Freeze where you are .. The nation’s heart got scared

And the voice of freedom .. Became harsh

[Chorus]

Your words are not understood .. Your feeling is indescribable

Your words are not understood .. Your feeling is indescribable

You are saying dignity .. They reply with humiliation

You are saying  justice .. They call you a scoundrel

Freeze where you are .. Here is your address

Fear itself is afraid of you .. And your conscience have never betrayed you

Freeze where you are .. You are the light of dawn

Your chanting’s sound is higher than .. The sound of bullets and treachery

Freeze where you are .. And pray with the Azan

You have a God who is called the truth, justice and peace

Freeze where you are .. With your shoulder beside your brother

However, if a soul was lost .. The idea will never die

[Chorus]

Your words are not understood .. Your feeling is indescribable

Your words are not understood .. Your feeling is indescribable

You are saying dignity .. They reply with humiliation

You are saying  justice .. They call you a scoundrel

[Rap by ZapTharwat]

You are required to be silent .. To be an alternative human being .. You are required to remain silent, die or live as a captive .. Living in the hugest prison .. But, from the inside I’m free .. Yes, I would like you to stop all the evil from me .. Loyalty to the past are some inseparable ideas for us .. Your lies, liar are confirming the truth inside me .. The reflection of the forged history is clear in the mirror .. A stone breaks the mirror showing all the truth .. We are covered on the inside even if our bodies were shown .. Anyone who speaks the truth, with betrayal is described .. My defeat got defeated but my victory was stolen .. The truth got fabricated with sadness on a book that got burned .. I am who got murdered from a year and the murderer wasn’t hanged .. I am the lines on the papers, I am who was burned from the inside .. I am who got white hair from his death while he was still a student .. I am who is fixed in his place despite of what they say or increasing grief.

[Chorus]

Your words are not understood .. Your feeling is indescribable

You are required to be silent .. To be an alternative human being

Your words are not understood .. Your feeling is indescribable

You are required to remain silent, die or live as a captive

Your words are not understood .. Your feeling is indescribable

You are required to be silent .. To be an alternative human being

Your words are not understood .. Your feeling is indescribable

You are required to remain silent, die or live as a captive

You are saying dignity .. They reply with humiliation

You are saying  justice .. They call you a scoundrel
